Why Do They Charge More For

Deb had her hair done today.... (Looks fabulous hon - really) but, I don't get the whole cost thing. Understand, I'm not complaining. She didn't buy "hair products" this time. Hint: Good ol' shampoo & conditioner is usually what - $6 or $8? Hair "products" are apparently up there in car payment range - so I need to feel grateful..... I guess.

There are always STORIES after the salon visit. ALWAYS. We were in Chicago for several weeks - too long to go without the hair 'being done'. Naturally, SARAH, Deb's stylist, had awful things (cat sounds in background) to say about the Chicago cut & color & this n' that and suggested - "You should have flown back here to get it done right, instead of getting it all screwed up like this - I would have fit you in." HELLOOOOOOO...... The airfare alone was almost $700 round trip for one person Sarah Scissorhands. What do I look like John Edwards? (I have no idea what was so AWFUL about it, but, hey, what do I know.)

Over dinner we debated (in good fun) the ridiculous cost of hair care for women. My point was, yes I know they have overhead & everyone needs to make a living but..... I pay less every month for the lawn folks & they cut, edge, weed-whack, rake/sweep & THEY do it every week using 3 men (not just 1 lady once a month) & they fertilize every 3 or 4 weeks. We're also comparing a decent sized lawn area to .... a head. Ok, I'll concede - they don't make riding clippers.

Next month maybe Sarah from Panache' will cut our grass & the dudes from The Lawn Ranger will take care Deb's hair.... Easy on the weedkiller guys.

Amen! Why is that? I'd go on strike against it all, but my family has to look at me...
I love that cat.

Am I to understand that you actually know how much is spent in one of those places? That's like looking directly at the sun, isn't it? Me, I prefer not to know. I can't do anything about it and to hear an exact figure might drive me mad with the knowledge of all the fun things I could have done with that money.
Not that hair isn't imporant mind you! I didn't mean to imply that! I certainly am not looking for a whoopin!

I can't comment on how much it costs for hair care. I have a wonderful sister in-law who happens to be a hair dresser. So, I get the "family discount." I pay ten bucks for a wash, hair cut, blow dry, and an eye brow waxing. Then, I pay only seven dollars for the one hair care product I buy from the salon she works at. Of course, I always give her a good tip. As for the yard work, I leave that up to my son, or husband.

Becky - What Cat???? That's Deb!
(I'm dead now.....)

Mark - I wish I didn't know - but I pay the bills & see the transactions, so I'm screwed either way.

Sheila - My sister in law cut my hair once - when she was in "Beauty School" - I was her fist victim - It took her almost 3 hours. My neck still hurts. Deb saw the comment about the 10 Bucks & wants to definitely move into that funeral home so she can get a deal on the hair thing. I used to cut grass - too hot in the summer & the grass is too thick.

Funny, I was also my sister in-laws "victim" for her first job in a hair salon. She needed a "dead head"..so she called me. Ha. She got the job, and is still there. Tell Deb that we'd all love for you to move into the funeral parlor, alive. I'll get her the family discount. No problem. Just don't tell anyone!

I don't get the whole salon thing. Scares me, to tell you the truth.
Great Clips for 14 bucks. I give her a twenty and I call it good.
I looked a little like Buster Brown when I walked out last week, but I looked myself in the mirror and said. "It'll grow".
Joe called me to the TV yesterday to see the results of a makeover. "Maybe you should do you're hair like that."
Or maybe not...Jack ass.
Don't take it Deb. I'm sure you look great.

Buster Brown - That's funny. I just like to tease. We skip meals one week a month to take care of the hair thing.

Whenever I get my hair cut, they always ask me, "When was the last time you cut it?" The implication is that I've probably had weasels chewing on the ends instead of going to an actual salon ... and if only I'd gotten here sooner there might've been some hope ...

Hey Jenn - Y'all go through real torture & expense. I have a good laugh every 4 weeks around here. Dramatic I tellya. When I get tired of my "look" I run out to the garage & buzz it off myself. Gets rid of the gray & the whispy curls all at one time - for free & in about 10 minutes - with no cat noises in the background.....

Sheila - I'm still thinkin' about that funeral home. Do they make sleepnumber caskets?

Sleep number caskets? Hmm..I wouldn't know. Not sure the occupants would require something like that. Ha.
