Grrr..dial-up...I waited forever and then the darn thing wouldn't play. I'll wait until I can use high speed to watch this...

But Dave, I do want to say how HAPPY I am that you are a 2010 Finalist - Florida Writers Association Royal Palm Literary Awards YA Fiction. Yay!!!! And I'll definitely be keeping my fingers crossed. How exciting...But I do think this warranted an entire post. Good thing I'm observant, Dave. I might not otherwise have seen...

Laura - Hope you get a chance to watch - it's pretty funny. And thanks for the congrats.

Joylene - I don't know how the announcer kept it together.

That's hilarious!! Through my years in the sport of dog breeding and showing I've had to concoct a lot of registered names and have always been conscious of (a) how they'll look when listed in a show catalogue, and (b) what attributes the name will infer for the dog. I have a good friend who has been in the business of purebred dogs for 50 years and has chosen some very inventive names (one of her posts on names is here: http://elderfox.wordpress.com/2010/04/23/nomenclature/ ). I fancied her "X QUIS IT X AMPLE" and from an earlier post, "EATURHARTOUT". :)

Carol - One of the things I like about writing is coming up with character names. In Reckless, I have an island couple named Eb & Flo, friends of Pop & Nan. They own a small resort in the Bahamas. Flo is a triplet - her brothers Moe & Joe Gopee own a fish market. Eb's last name is Kerly, but he's bald as a cueball. Then I have a 'bad guy' by the name Harry Wort. Pop manages to pronounce it with a different spelling.

Welcome back.
