"LIKE" or WRITE?

Do you spend way too much time checkin' friend status or lookin' at the latest group of pics posted on your favorite travel/photography sites on Facebook? Yeah? Really? Gotta admit ... me too.

I've used every excuse there is to justify the lack of time spent writing and/or posting on my blog. Wonder if I reduced my Facebook time by two-thirds if I could get back to say . . . one blog post a week. Wonder how much MORE progress I could make on my WIP.

So I'm thinkin' Facebook has to take a back seat. Maybe identify a handful of friends / sites & limit browsing & commenting to ___ minutes a day? Rotate my "visits"? Go on Facebook hiatus? I've already cut way back on Twitter & blog reading. Hardly bother with either these days. And then there's the creation of a FB Author page. Should I? Can I spare that time? Will an Author page help me sell more books? Hmm...

                                        Suggestions?

GALLOWS POINT, the third book in the Jack Rackham Adventure series, is screamin' to be finished. Gotta DIVE IN

I've finally come to the conclusion that writing is what's most important to me! Took me long enough.

Here's hoping you sort out your priorities. I think it's something many writers struggle with. At least that's what I tell myself.

I don't spend a lot of time on FB, although I guess "a lot" is a relative description. When I log in I do stay a while, but then I log out again and don't usually return until much later, until I've finished something else that needs doing. I find that staying logged in, and getting the message alerts is too distracting / enticing / interrupting. Setting a time limit and sticking to it works for me (when I do it). I like the "Focus Booster" app for reminding me of my time limit.

I enjoy interacting with all the friends I've made via social media, and I'd hate to have those connections drift away. I feel I need to at least make an appearance in the various online locales, but I don't have to lounge around there indefinitely. That said, I'd better go get busy! :)

P.S. I hope GALLOWS POINT is coming along well. Almost done?
